Merged construction companies look to increase market share

Highland company Global Construction, part of the Global Energy Group, is looking to increase its share of several key markets following a merger with Muir of Ord-based Mansefield Construction.

The merger, completed last week, further strengthens Global Construction’s position in the utilities, energy, infrastructure and property services sectors.
Mansefield, formerly an associate company of the Ross-shire Engineering Group, will operate under the Global Construction brand.  The merger, which includes Fort William-based Camken Contractors, will see Global Construction’s workforce grow to around 160.

Global Energy Group chairman, Roy MacGregor, said:  “We are delighted to welcome the management and workforce of Mansfield Construction to the group.

“The combined strengths and capabilities of the companies significantly increases Global Construction’s capacity to serve a range of key market sectors, providing real potential to continue to grow this business, while at the same time guaranteeing our customers increased efficiency and security.”

Global Construction is working closely with Mansefield’s customers, partners and employees to ensure a smooth transition during the merger process.

Mansfield’s senior management will make the short journey to relocate from their existing premises in Muir of Ord to Global Construction’s head offices at Tomich Industrial Estate in the Ross-shire town.

The Global Energy Group acquired a 30 per cent shareholding in the Ross-shire Engineering Group in November last year.
