Global Construction worked with Forum Interactive to deliver a safety forum that would connect people personally with the importance of health & safety and create a level playing field for everyone to express views and share experiences. The forum we designed had no formal presentations. The focus was the people in the room – what they thought, how they felt, what was important to them. At the heart of the event was a story – Cable Strike.
Cable Strike was performed as a live piece of theatre in the middle of the room surrounded by workers, managers and supervisors. Cable Strike is about an accident in which a worker is electrocuted. His death is witnessed by a fellow worker who remains trapped in his vehicle, unable to help for fear of his own safety. The focus of the story is not the incident itself but its aftermath, in terms of the impact on the witness himself, the dead man’s wife, daughter and work colleagues. Following each scene a question was posed which groups then discussed for 20 minutes aided by a table facilitator.
The safety forum was organised by the leadership team at Global Construction as we take our health & safety responsibilities seriously. We want our business to set standards, not follow them.
